Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook Privacy Explanations - Do You Agree?

This whole "public is the new social norm" may be true - for those of us who wish to start our own websites, blogs, and tweet about everything This whole "public is the new social norm" may be true - for those of us who wish to start our own websites, blogs, andunder the sun - for people who use Facebook, it once was the land of privacy and trusted friends and networks.

I joined Facebook years ago as a way to stay in touch with friends who live around the country and the world.  I like to share what's going on in my life and share my pictures - with my friends.  I didn't join Facebook so anyone could see what's going on in my life and, Iike a vast majority of Facebook users, I would like to keep it that way.  Now that Facebook users are becoming younger and younger, do children and teens even understand how to use privacy settings and the implications of posting certain comments, photos, etc?  Is it the parents job to educate and monitor this, or should Facebook have left things the way they were?

In a time where social media is becoming the norm in business and personal life, the marketer in me believes there are some things for the public, while outside of the office, I believe there some things that should be left private.

I found this NY Times article, "Facebook's Zuckerberg Says The Age of Privacy Is Over" quite interesting.  If you aren't on board with all of your private information becoming public, or even if you are, you might want to take a few minutes and read this.    http://www.nytimes.com/external/readwriteweb/2010/01/10/10readwriteweb-facebooks-zuckerberg-says-the-age-of-privac-82963.html?pagewanted=1
